Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction echocardiography may be the first imaging modality detecting a cardiac mass. Although cannot give histopathology, certain features and adjunctive tools such as contrast aid in differential diagnosis. Methods: we describe five masses which echo-contrast helped to assess presence or not vascularization. Panel A shows left atrial mass attached fossa ovalis with large stalk prolapsing mitral inflow. Contrast showed late but homogeneous opacification Gross pathology confirmed an mixoma. B two patient non-small cell lung cancer one embedded inferior ventricular wall other floating atrium. Administration inhomogeneous enhancement myocardial absent suggesting metastatic infiltration myocardium together avascular neoplastic thrombus C multi-lobulated mobile right atrium straddling tricuspid valve. highlighted diffusion within rapid only its portion. recurrent thymoma. D intraventricular arising from interventricular septum multiple hypoechoic areas carcinoid. administration very mild degree enhancement. Conclusion: allows good differentiation between vascularized non-vascularized masses, providing important indication differentiate tumor. In those hypervascularized distribution could interesting clue that orientates primary secondary tumors. Figure.

Evaluation of cardiac masses by real-time perfusion imaging echocardiography
BACKGROUND Diagnosis of cardiac masses is still challenging by echocardiography and distinguishing tumors from thrombi has important therapeutical implications. We sought to determine the diagnostic value of real-time perfusion echocardiography (RTPE) for cardiac masses characterization. METHODS We prospectively studied 86 patients, 23 with malignant tumors (MT), 26 with benign tumors (BT), 3...
متن کاملDiagnostic Performance of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Echocardiography in Evaluation of Cardiac and Paracardiac Masses.
Echocardiography is the preferred initial imaging method for assessment of cardiac masses. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging, with its excellent tissue characterization and wide field of view, may provide additional unique information. We evaluated the predictive value of echocardiography and CMR imaging parameters to identify tumors and malignancy and to provide histopathologic diagnosi...
متن کاملDifferential diagnosis of cardiac masses using contrast echocardiographic perfusion imaging.
OBJECTIVES We investigated the usefulness of echocardiographic contrast perfusion imaging in differentiating cardiac masses. BACKGROUND Two-dimensional echocardiography is the primary diagnostic modality for cardiac masses. However, differentiation between the different types of cardiac masses may be difficult at times. We hypothesized that echocardiographic contrast perfusion imaging would d...
